Silvia is a writer and a teacher. She has attended the Appalachian Writers Workshop, placed in the Poetry Contest for the Books By The Banks Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio, and had poems published in the “Women Speak, Volume 11” Anthology of the Women Speak Project of Appalachia. As the daughter of a Cuban immigrant and Kentuckian, she loves to learn about language, the importance of place, and the genuine and performative aspects of identity and culture.
